American Rescue Plan Act of 2021

Mobile County Commission has proceeded deliberately with its more than $80 million allocation from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021’s State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds. Hundreds of funding applications were received in fall 2021, vetted for eligibility under the ARPA regulations by both external consultants and an internal committee, then presented to Commissioners Merceria Ludgood, Connie Hudson, and Randall Dueitt for funding consideration in spring 2022. In April 2022, the Mobile County Commission approved an initial list of projects to move forward in the process based on Commission priority, community impact, and alignment with the criteria for ARPA funding. August 1, 2022, Commissioners approved Mobile County’s Strategic Spending plan. Projects can commence after agreements are executed between the Mobile County Commission and each of the funding recipients.
