Foster Grandparent Program

Mission: To provide services to children and youth with exceptional needs.

Services provided by volunteers: Tutor students to improve academic skills; motivate and instill good behavior; reward good socialization habits; listen to and counsel each child/youth individually; serve as positive role model; mentor youth; help with reading abilities; care for babies and children with long-term illness, and assist children with mental and physical disabilities.

RSVP

About: RSVP engages and connects individuals ages 55 and older in a diverse range of community service activities in the areas of Healthy Futures, Education, Economic Opportunity, Disaster Services, Veterans & Military Families and Environmental Stewardship. Currently, RSVP partners with 89 nonprofit agencies in Mobile County to provide volunteer support.

Mission: To enrich the lives of older adults, strengthen the community and encourage civic engagement through service and volunteering.

Benefits to joining: Annual Recognition Event, Member Socials, New Friends, Free Insurance Coverage (Accident Medical, Volunteer Liability AND Excess Automobile Liability), Networking with like-minded individuals dedicated to making an impact on our community by encouraging civic engagement through service and volunteering, 89 Community Partners, Special Event Corps (volunteers assist with special events and fundraisers with RSVP's 89 partner agencies. With everything from walks to galas, volunteers stay "in the know" on some of Mobile's best and long-standing events)

Services provided by volunteers: "As the premier volunteer organization for mature adults, RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to our volunteers," states Stacey Killingsworth, Executive Director. "By matching volunteers to the needs of our community, we strengthen the capacity of our partner agencies while offering meaningful volunteer opportunities for citizens. We are dedicated to providing a rewarding experience for our volunteers and vital volunteer support to our partner agencies".

Senior Companion Program

Mission: To provide assistance and friendship to seniors who are homebound and to frail adults who are in day care centers.

Benefits to joining:

Services provided by volunteers: Helping others to maintain their highest level of independent living; preparing meals for clients; helping with grocery shopping; escorting to medical appointments; and assisting with day-to-day living tasks.
