MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. – Eliza Jordan Road North at the entrance to Kelly Road in west Mobile County will be temporarily closed to traffic beginning Monday, April 13, 2026 to relocate a portion of an underground utility and replace cross-drain pipes beneath the roadway.

Residents of Kelly Road will have access to their homes from the north traveling southbound on Eliza Jordan Road North from Tanner Williams Road.

This closure is expected to last approximately one month; however, all construction projects are weather-dependent.

Message boards and detour signs will be in place before the closure. The detour route for Eliza Jordan Road North during this time is traveling eastbound on Airport Boulevard, northbound on Snow Road, and westbound on Tanner Williams Road.

Motorists are asked to allow extra travel time during this closure.

This temporary closure is in Mobile County Commission District 3.

This construction project is funded through the 2020 Pay-As-You-Go Transporation Improvement Program. Pay-As-You-Go is a method of financing road and bridge improvements with no new taxes or debt. Funds are collected in advance of each road program. Beginning in 1977, Mobile County’s Pay-As-You-Go has committed more than $1 billion to local road improvements. It has been approved by voters each of the 20 times it has appeared on a ballot.
