Mobile County's American Rescue Plan Act Allocation Process Update

Posted on: Nov 16th, 2021 | News and AnnouncementsPress Releasesfeatured news

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. -- Mobile County received nearly 200 applications for funding from its $80.26 million allocation under the American Rescue Plan Act’s State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund grant.

This high number of proposals, which totaled four times more than the allocation, illustrates good community outreach, interest within the community and reflects local needs that can be addressed as Mobile County Commission responds to the COVID-19 pandemic and its recovery.

The proposals received are currently going through a Risk Assessment review process that will help Mobile County determine the permissibility of funding the proposals according to the rules and regulations associated with the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund grant.  Mobile County is working through these proposals as quickly as possible. Applicants who are contacted by a Mobile County analyst seeking additional information, are requested to provide that information as soon as possible to prevent delays.

As the Risk Assessments are completed, Mobile County Commissioners will then begin the process of making determinations on what projects to fund and in what amounts. If a project is selected for funding, the applicant will then enter into an agreement with Mobile County that provides the parameters associated with the proper use of the funds and reporting requirements for each specific project.

Mobile County is actively working to fund projects as quickly as possible in a manner that is in complete alignment with the federal guidelines associated with this grant. Funding determinations should be made before Jan. 31, 2022.

EDITED: a preliminary number was used in the original release. Mobile County's allocation from the US. Department of Treasury is $80.26 million.
