Coronavirus Relief Assistance through the CARES Act

UPDATED 01-22-2021 - Mobile County has been awarded Community Development Block Grant – Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) funding from HUD through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).

Using CDBG-CV funding, the Grants Department has recently partnered with Legal Services Alabama to provide legal assistance as well as subsistence payments for income-qualified, COVID-impacted households with rental/mortgage/utility payments. Contact number: (866) 456-4995

The Grants Department hopes to partner for other public service interventions in the future, subject to CDBG-CV budget / other constraints. Please note that the Grants Department will not provide direct assistance to individuals and/or families, rather funding will only be provided through non-profit partners.

The County has also been awarded U.S. Treasury funding through the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 for an Emergency Rental Assistance program and is in the process of determining how to best structure a program to provide income-qualified, COVID-impacted households with additional resources for rental and utility assistance.
