Mobile County to Conduct Public Testing of Voting Equipment Ahead of May 19 Primary

Mobile County Probate Court officials will conduct public testing and sealing of voting equipment on Tuesday, May 5, ahead of the May 19 Alabama Primary Election. Both testing sessions are open to the public.

Testing of ballot counters and voting machines will begin at 8:15 a.m. at the Mobile County Voting Machine Warehouse, 1150 N. Schillinger Road. Testing of the absentee ballot tabulation system will follow at 10 a.m. in the Probate Court Training Room on the second floor of the Mobile County Government Center Annex, 151 Government St.

Mobile County’s election process is administered by the Probate Court, led by Judge of Probate C. Mark Erwin, the county’s chief elections officer. Elections are conducted by trained citizen poll workers, with safeguards in place at every step.

The Mobile County Commission supports the process by providing equipment and resources. Voting equipment is secured, tested, and not connected to the internet; ballots are strictly tracked and accounted for; and results are verified through multiple checks before final reporting, which ensures accuracy, transparency, and a process voters can understand and trust.
