By resolution, the Mobile County Commission encourages citizens to Vote "YES" on Amendment 1 in the 2024 primary election on March 5, 2024.

Statewide Amendment 1 is a Constitutional Amendment that must be approved by voters for it to be enacted. It would allow local bills and local constitutional amendments (bills that only apply to one county) to be signed and transmitted before the passage of State budgets. Currently, to be considered before the budget bills, a "3/5 vote of a quorum" in each house is required. This vote requirement has led to litigation over how the procedural vote is applied. Passage of this Amendment would remove the requirement of the procedural vote.
