Hudson Becomes Mobile County Commission President March 14

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. – Effective Monday, March 14, 2022, District 2 Commissioner Connie Hudson will assume the role of President of the Mobile County Commission and will hold the position until July 9, 2023.

The position of Mobile County Commission President rotates among the three elected Commissioners who each serve for 16 months within the four-year term of elected office. Commissioner Merceria Ludgood, who has represented District 1 since 2007, served as Commission President in the first rotation that began Nov. 11, 2020.

Hudson, who has represented Commission District 2 since 2010, will chair meetings of the Commission, sign documents on behalf of the Commission, serve on various boards and serve as Mobile County’s chief elected official during a declared emergency or disaster.

Commissioner Randall Dueitt, who has represented District 3 since 2020, moves into the position of Mobile County Commission Vice President, as such he may chair meetings or act for the Commission President in her absence. Dueitt will serve as President in the final rotation beginning July 10, 2023 until the election of a new President on November 13, 2024.
