Work Begins on Government Plaza Roof

Posted on: Aug 5th, 2024 | AnnouncementsFeatured NewsPress Releases

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. – In preparation for roof replacement work on the South Tower of Mobile Government Plaza, the week of Aug. 5, contractors are installing overhead protection scaffolding on the south side of the building and a crane will be lifting materials into place on the roof.

Spotters and flaggers on Church Street will guide traffic and pedestrians during lifts. Pedestrians and building vehicle traffic will be given the right of way during this process.

Drivers and pedestrians should use caution in the area.

The South Tower roof work will last through December 2024. The protective scaffolding will remain in place for the duration of the work. The North Tower roof replacement will follow the same process after the South Tower work is completed.

This roof work is not on the Atrium of Government Plaza. It is on the office area towers, which are original to the building.
