Tropical Storm Gordon Update #2

The Mobile County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was activated at 8 a.m. today in advance of the anticipated landfall of Tropical Storm Gordon. Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has issued a State of Emergency effective at 7 a.m. this morning. The National Weather Service will give its next update at 10 a.m. and decisions will be made based on that information. South Mobile County remains under a Hurricane Warning meaning hurricane force winds are possible this evening with earlier gusts possible. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the rest of Mobile County Storm surges of 3-5 feet are possible on Dauphin Island, Bayou La Batre, Coden and Grand Bay and along streams and bayous. All residents should be aware of flooding potential. Residents in low lying areas of South Mobile and those living in manufactured homes are advised to seek shelter. Stay tuned to National Weather Service and local media for the latest conditions.
