Sonic Teams with Mobile County To Adopt Out Puppies

Semmes residents will have a chance to check out more than a half dozen puppies from the Mobile County Animal Shelter at a special adoption event set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 14 at the Sonic Drive-In located in front of the Wal-Mart in Semmes. The Sonic drive-in restaurants are teaming with the Mobile County Animal Shelter to help find homes for the thousands of abandoned pets in Mobile County. Adopters will get treated to a free Route 44 Big Drink at the Sonic. Cost to adopt is $65 and includes the costs of spaying and neutering, a 5-in-1 vaccination and deworming. The adoption event is among many planned as part of a summer campaign to increase adoptions by more than 300 over last summer. If the county succeeds, it will be eligible for awards from $5,000 to $100,000 as part of a grant competition through the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and TV host Rachel Ray.
