Shelter Opening at Fowl River Community Center for Jan. 8 Severe Weather Event

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala.  -- Fowl River Community Center, located at 5401 Fowl River Road, Theodore, AL 36582 will be opened as a severe weather shelter beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2024

Mobile County is expected to experience high winds and severe thunderstorms overnight Jan. 8 and 9, 2024. All modes of severe weather including potential tornadoes and damaging wind gusts are possible.  

Those in areas or structures commonly affected by severe weather and high winds are urged to seek shelter.

Mobile County EMA, Mobile County and the American Red Cross urge those who seek refuge at this shelter to bring essential items:     

  • Bed Gear:  bedding, including blankets, sleeping bags, or pillows. 
  • Medications:  any/all necessary medications or medical supplies . 
  • Bottled water/ Snacks: Food will not be available.
  • Portable Chargers/ Block Chargers for any devices brought to the shelter. Electrical outlets will be limited.  

Transportation to this shelter will not be provided. For more information about this shelter, call the American Red Cross at 251-644-5513.
