Regional Summit Tomorrow

Posted on: Jan 26th, 2010 | Announcements

Political leaders from three states will attend a regional summit tomorrow in Mobile. The event will bring together county commissioners from Lower Alabama, Northwest Florida, and Coastal Mississippi. ?We need to think beyond borders and share ways to deal with the common challenges we all face,? said Mobile County Commission President Mike Dean. Mobile County Commissioner Stephen Nodine will chair the event. He has fostered regionalism through efforts to support the EADS/Northrop Grumman tanker project and was instrumental in forming a 5-county economic development consortium. Nodine hopes to make the regional summit an annual event. Among topics to be discussed tomorrow are coastal insurance, unfunded state mandates, gambling issues, health care and employee costs, and further regional cooperation. The event takes place at Government Plaza in downtown Mobile, Wednesday January 27th at 4:00 pm. ####
