Popular Prichard Park Gets Upgrade

Posted on: Jul 27th, 2009 | Announcements

Mobile County Commissioner Merceria Ludgood will see the results of $169,000 in funding for the improvement of High Point Park in Prichard at a ceremony set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 28 at the park, 4331 Highpoint Blvd. ?This is a popular public park used by a lot of people that needed some fundamental upgrades,? Ludgood said. The project involved the replacement of an existing building housing a concession stand and restrooms that were inadequate for public use. The project brings the facility up to current construction codes, including accessibility for disabled persons. The new building is about 940 square feet. Construction began in March and was completed by the end of July. The architect was Nicholas H. Holmes Jr. with Holmes & Holmes Architects. Herman Towner and Grenetta Ward, both with the city of Prichard, were instrumental in the development and execution of the project. High Point Park is a centrally-located baseball park with a large pavilion, a walking track and covered picnic tables. ###
