Many girls dream of becoming President, and soon they will have the opportunity to learn about the political process during the Girls in Politics Initiative, Camp Congress, hosted by the Mobile County Commission. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, November 21, at the Mobile Marriott Hotel. This leadership program will introduce girls, ages 15-18, to politics through girl-friendly lessons on the structure of our political system. In addition to learning about politics, attendees will run for office, vote and convene a session of Congress to pass their own bill ? all in one day. The event will also include a ceremonial signing of a bill by the elected Madam President. During the camp session, campers will meet elected officials and political consultants who will serve as honorary camp counselors. Girls interested in Camp Congress, may apply online at www.mobilecountyal.gov. Class size will be limited. All applications must be accompanied with a 300-word, typewritten essay.
