Mobile County Supports Proposed Motorsports Park

Posted on: Jan 25th, 2010 | Announcements

The Mobile County Commission unanimously approved letting the proposed Alabama Motorsports Park keep one cent of the sales tax it generates as a way to help spur development of the proposed multi-use entertainment center, subject to finalizing terms of a project agreement. The proposed park would be located on 2,800 acres straddling Prichard, Saraland and unincorporated Mobile County. ?This is a proposal that will revitalize the north Mobile area and potentially bring major new revenues to the county,? said Commission president Mike Dean. ?It?s a win for everyone.? Former Mobile Mayor Mike Dow, representing Gulf Coast Entertainment LLC, told Mobile County commissioners the park would draw from a potential 55 million people living within a one-day drive from Mobile County. ###
