Mobile County, Purina Swap Pet Food for Adoptions

Posted on: Oct 24th, 2014 | Announcements

In a swap of pet food for adoptions, Nestlé Purina PetCare Company in St. Louis delivered three pallets of pet foods to the Mobile County Animal Shelter today, with the savings going toward the cost of pet adoptions to the public. The donation, which will supply the needs of the dogs and puppies at the shelter for more than one month, will subsidize 15 to 18 adoptions at $80 per adoption, which is the cost of for a dog that must be spayed and neutered. All adopted dogs are spayed and neutered and receive a rabies vaccine, a 5-in-1 shot, and deworming. A free adoption event is underway this week, supported by other donated funds from local citizens. The shelter is offering free and reduced-rate adoptions from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow. Dogs one year and older will be offered to the public for free; puppies and kittens will be half-off. Savings from the Purina donation will be used for other adoption events. The shelter is located at 7665 Howells Ferry Road, one mile off Schillinger Road. Animals available for adoption may be viewed at www.mobilecountyanimals.com.
