Mobile County Launches Prescription Drug Savings Program

Posted on: May 26th, 2010 | Announcements

The Mobile County Commission is offering a prescription drug savings program to all county residents - regardless of income, age or health status - that will provide discounts on prescriptions, and lab and imaging tests. ?With healthcare costs on the rise, prescription drug discounts will ease some of the financial burdens that county families are facing,? said County Commission president Merceria Ludgood. The program is a partnership with Financial Marketing Concepts Inc., (FMC) out of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and is offered at no cost to the county. The prescription card is being distributed free of charge as of today and may be used at all pharmacy chains and most independent pharmacies in Mobile County. It will cover more than 60,000 available prescription drugs. Cardholders save an average of about 40 percent on prescription drugs, depending on the types of medications purchased, according to FMC. ?We?ve pursued the agreement on this program for several months now, knowing that it would have a significant impact on the lives of our residents,? said Mobile County Commissioner Mike Dean. ?It will be especially important to the uninsured residents and residents facing high insurance deductibles, and will offer savings for people in need of prescriptions not covered by their current plans.? Participating pharmacies will register new members of the Coast2Coast Rx Card at no cost, and no deductibles are applied. A list of participating pharmacies and other information is available at the Web site www.coast2coastrx.com/mobileal. Click on the Pharmacy Locator button at the top of the page. Everyone is qualified for the discount card membership and parents or guardians may obtain the discounts on prescriptions for their dependents under the age of 18 years. ###
