Mobile County Approves Upgrades in Dauphin Island, Bayou La Batre

The Mobile County Commission today set in motion improvements to the Dauphin Island Campground as well as numerous road paving projects in Dauphin Island and Bayou La Batre. The Commissioners approved startup of $139,000 in improvements to the Dauphin Island Campground, 109 Bienville Boulevard, that will upgrade the existing electrical system and provide additional sewer connections. The campground has 150 hookups for power and water, along with a wide variety of on-site amenities. The county also will be resurfacing a number of streets in both Dauphin Island and Bayou La Batre during the summer. Dauphin Island is set for $250,000 in improvements to Desoto and Cadillac avenues, Lemoyne Drive Service Road, Orleans Drive and St. Stephen Road and Cavalier Circle. In Bayou La Batre, the county will be resurfacing Little River Road, W. Alba Street and Davenport Street East, also at a cost of $250,000. Startup of the resurfacing projects is projected for June and should be finished before the end of the summer.
