MARCO To The Rescue for County Dogs and Cats

Posted on: Dec 10th, 2009 | Announcements

There?s a new hero in town. A hero that is sure to save the day for our four-legged friends at the Mobile County Animal Shelter. It?s MARCO, Mobile Animal Rescue Community Outreach, to the rescue. MARCO is the new 501c3 that will assist the County Animal Shelter with its endeavors. ?We realize that the shelter was in need of community outreach in the form of volunteers and additional funding,? said Stacy Hamer, Animal Resource Supervisor. So far the group only has 10 volunteers, but they have some lofty goals for the future, which include pushing the spayed and neuter program in addition to working hands on with adoptions. Only in existence for about a month, MARCO will assist the County Animal Shelter with a Rabies and Microchip Clinic to be held from 10a.m. to 2:30p.m., Saturday, December 12, at the shelter located at 7665 Howells Ferry Road. Rabies shots are $12 for a three-year vaccine and $25 for microchip. For anyone interested in joining MARCO, call Stacey Holland at 455-0111 or Stacy Hamer at 490-8784. ### Also, there are 147 pets up for adoption this weekend. These animals will make a great addition to any family for the holidays.
