Jerry Carl To Start Litter Campaign Thursday

Posted on: Apr 25th, 2014 | Announcements

In an effort to tackle litter in the county?s third district, Commissioner Jerry Carl has announced that the county will be pulling up all signs posted in the public rights-of-way in his district starting May1. ?These signs clutter our streets,? Carl said. ?This is a litter issue and we?re going to address it as a litter issue. As of May 1, county employees, when they pull up to an intersection in my district, when they see these signs, they're going to tear them down." Whether political or advertising a business, the commissioner is urging residents to remove their signs from public rights-of-way or risk losing them when they are removed by county workers. "You know, this is our home," said Carl. "We live here. Let?s take care of our home and clean up Mobile County.? It is against the law to post signs in public rights-of-way.
