Jerry Carl To Attend National Prayer Breakfast

Posted on: Feb 3rd, 2014 | Announcements

Mobile County Commissioner Jerry Carl will be attending the National Prayer Breakfast Thursday in Washington D.C., a yearly event that has drawn U.S. presidents ever since Dwight D. Eisenhower attended in 1953. ?It?s an honor to be invited and a great opportunity to join in prayer with other business and political leaders from around the world who are devoted to public service,? Carl said. The breakfast, held at the Washington Hilton NW, is typically attended by some 3,500 guests, including international invitees from over 100 countries. It is hosted by members of the United States Congress and is organized on their behalf by The Fellowship Foundation, a conservative Christian organization. The event is designed to be a forum for the political, social, and business elite to assemble and build relationships. It actually is a series of events, with the main one being the breakfast that typically has two special guest speakers: the President of the United States and a guest whose identity is kept under wraps until that morning. Last year, the breakfast featured President Barack Obama and a widely covered appearance by Baltimore neurosurgeon Benjamin Carson. Carl, who is personally paying all his expenses for the trip, leaves tomorrow. He will be meeting with Alabama legislative representatives while there. ###
