Jerry Carl Gives School Kids $10,000 Computer Lab Update

Posted on: Dec 15th, 2015 | Announcements

Mobile County Commission President Jerry Carl will present a check to kids at the Breitling Elementary School computer lab tomorrow - part of the $250,000 he has committed to technology upgrades in the county?s third district this year. The presentation is set for 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, at the school, 8350 Grand Bay Wilmer Rd. In a unique arrangement, Commissioner Carl last year decided to give all his district?s education dollars to upgrades of the technology in district 3 public school following complaints that the computers couldn?t be used for standardized testing because they were so out of date. The gift brings to more than half a million dollars his commitment to IT upgrades for the district?s schools in the last two years. In 2014, Carl contributed $266,000. The distribution is based on recommendations by the school?s IT Department. Brietling will get $10,000 this year on top of $20,000 in 2014.
