Posted on: May 16th, 2014 | Announcements

MEDIA OP: The trucks will be rolling out of Public Works Camp 1 in parking area around 1150 Schillinger Road North (next to AG Center) at 6:30 a.m. Monday if you want that pic. Otherwise I can try to help you catch up with them during the day. Should amass a pile of signs. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 16, 2014 Contact: Nancy Johnson, Director of Public Affairs and Community Services Of: (251) 574-5088 C: (251) 281-3818 Mobile County Commissioner Jerry Carl and a caravan of county employees will start pulling signs out of the rights-of-way in District 3 starting early Monday morning. ?These streets belong to all of us and we are taking a first step to clean them up,? he said. ?Let?s all pitch in and start cleaning up the litter that spoils our neighborhoods.? Carl had announced that the county will be pulling up all signs posted in the public rights-of-way in his district. Whether political or advertising a business, the signs will be removed by county environmental and public works officials. ?It?s against state law to post signs in these public areas and we are going to do our best to get rid of the clutter,? said Carl. ?At best, the signs make a mess of our streets, and at worst they obstruct views and hamper the workers who maintain green areas and pick up litter.?
