Posted on: Aug 30th, 2018 | Announcements

For girls dreaming of one day becoming President of the United States, or maybe holding an elected office, then they should sign-up for the Girls in Politics Initiative, Camp Congress being held in Mobile County. The one-day leadership camp will be hosted by Commissioner Merceria Ludgood of Mobile County District One, and will introduce middle-schooled girls to politics through girl-friendly lessons on the structure of our political system. During the camp session, attendees will run for office, vote and convene a session of Congress to pass their own bill and participate in a ceremonial signing of a bill by the elected Madam President - all in one day. Campers will also meet elected officials and political consultants who will serve as honorary camp counselors. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, October 9, at the Mobile Marriott Hotel. Lunch and snacks will be provided at NO COST to the participant. Girls interested in Camp Congress, may apply online at by clicking here. Class size will be limited. The deadline to submit an application is September 25.
