Free Pet Adoptions Extended Through Friday

Posted on: Aug 25th, 2014 | Announcements

A crowd of almost 200 people visited the Mobile County Animal Shelter Saturday adopting out dozens of animals during a pet adoption special that will be extended through this week. The shelter will extend its Labor of Love theme for this week leading up to the Labor Day weekend with free adoptions for all animals one year and older and discounted adoption fees of $10 per animal for those under one year old. The huge weekend adoption event succeeded in adopting out 36 of the shelters animals, with another two rescued by partner agencies and two returned to owners, for a total of 40 animals being moved to permanent homes. The discounted adoptions are funded by donations to the shelter. There are 23 animals available today and many more that will be adoptable during the course of the week as the minimum seven-day stray holds expire. Attached are photos of Margo and Ian, still looking for a place to call home. Other of the available animals may be viewed at www.mobilecountyanimals.com. Stray holds may be viewed at petharbor.com or at the shelter, located at 7665 Howells Ferry Road. All animals adopted out get one set of shots, a de-wormer, spaying/neutering and a rabies vaccination. Office hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The shelter will be closed on Saturday for the Labor Day holiday.
