County Urges Confidence in Claims Process, Safety Monitoring

Posted on: May 1st, 2010 | Announcements

Mobile County Commissioner Mike Dean said he is pleased that British Petroleum representatives met with local residents today and established a claims process that will allow them to recover lost income or property damage expenses related to the Gulf oil spill. ?Our residents are gravely concerned about the harm that might come to their businesses and properties,? he said. ?We are glad that a process for compensation has been made readily available to our citizens. Anyone who suffers losses because of this oil spill should make a claim as early as possible by calling (800) 440-0858.? He also urged residents to have confidence in national, state and local health authorities who have been steadily monitoring the health and safety of local waters and its fish and seafood. ?The combined expertise of these agencies should assure us that we will have adequate notification of any contamination, if our shores are impacted by the spill,? he said.
