County Property Vandalized

Posted on: Aug 1st, 2012 | Announcements

The Mobile County Public Works Department is asking for the public?s help in identifying the driver who jumped the curb at the roundabout at Dawes and Grelot roads last week to joy-ride on the landscaped interior green space, destroying sod and sprinklers. This is the second time in two years that a car has gouged out sod and destroyed sprinkler heads by spinning donuts on the grassy interior of the intersection. Both incidents occurred in July, either late Saturday night or into the early morning hours of Sunday. Damage to the roundabout last year cost the county $1,600. County Public Works officials expect that it will be less costly this year, but emphasize that it is still an unnecessary expense that the taxpayer will have to cover. County officials are asking citizens to call law enforcement if they know anything about the incidents. If they witness the act, citizens are encouraged to report a description of the vehicle and a license plate number.
