County Commission Turns Down Liquor License

Posted on: Jul 13th, 2009 | Announcements

The Mobile County Commission Monday denied an application for a liquor license to Club Troubadour Inc. in Wilmer, in response to an outpouring of opposition from community residents. The club would be established in the former location of Club Outer Limits at 11574 Moffett Road, which had lost its liquor license after a series of incidents that turned violent. Commissioner Stephen Nodine, who represents the Wilmer area, made a motion to deny the license after numerous Wilmer residents spoke out about problems already developing at the site of the new club. In addition, citizens presented a petition with more than 700 signatures in opposition to the club. ?I represent the people of the community who are overwhelmingly opposed to the project,? he said. ?We want to protect the integrity of the community and the safety of its citizens.? A county inspector in the audience at the Monday meeting noted that he had issued a stop work order on the club?s building because of improper permitting and a problem with unauthorized access to electrical power.
