Posted on: May 29th, 2009 | Announcements

Move over Twitter and Facebook, there?s a new social networking site in town. Well, at least for the elderly. It?s a new senior citizen center in Tillman?s Corner. The Mobile County Commission will hold a grand opening ceremony and fish fry starting at 10 a.m., on Saturday, May 30. ?The seniors citizens here were in dire need of a center in this community,? said Commission President Mike Dean. ?It will definitely be utilized to the fullest.? Plans are already underway to make the grand opening a huge extravaganza. On Saturday, at 11:30 a.m. an Elvis impersonator will perform followed by Caroline Sue Cain & Her Country Cut-ups singing country music at 1 p.m. The Tillman?s Corner Senior Citizen Advisory Board will also hold a Yard Sale at the center, beginning at 7 a.m., on Friday, May 29. The new freestanding metal building with brick veneer is 4,000 square feet and costs $579,500. The center consists of a multi-purpose area, kitchen, two restrooms, and office area. Watermark Design Group was the architect and Commercial Contracting Services constructed the center. ### The address of the Tillman?s Corner Senior Citizen Center: 5863 Nevius Road Directions: Go I-10 West toward PASCAGOULA Take the AL-193 exit, EXIT 17 A-B, toward Dauphin Island/Tillman?s Corner Take the AL-193 N exit, EXIT 17B, toward Tillman?s Corner Merge onto AL-193 N/Rangeline Road AL-193 N/Rangeline Road becomes Nevius Road
