Citizens Invited to Hearing on Schillinger Widening

Citizens are invited to an informal hearing next week on the proposed widening of Schillinger Road from two to five lands from Howells Ferry Road to north of Moffett Road (US 98). The meeting is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8 at the Semmes Recreation and Community Center. The Corridor/Design hearing before the Alabama Department of Transportation will be a walk-in session with no formal presentations. However, preliminary maps and state and local officials will be available to answer questions. Citizens may present their views on the design of the roadway and its consistency with local and regional planning efforts. They also are invited to submit comments on the social, economical and environmental impacts of the proposed project. Those views may be submitted in writing at the meeting, or by mailing them within 10 business days after the meeting to: Vincent E. Calametti, Division Engineer, Alabama Department of Transportation, 1701 I-65 West Service Road N., Mobile, 36618-1109. Comments also may be sent to hammamis@dot.state.al.us.
