Adoption Event Set for Saturday; 115 New Animals

Posted on: Aug 27th, 2009 | Announcements

The Mobile County Animal Shelter is holding another special adoption event on Saturday to help find homes for some of the 115 animals that were admitted into the shelter in the last week. About 60 of those animals will be available for adoption, with the remainder in temporary quarantine or hold. The adoption event is set for 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the County Animal Shelter at 7665 Howells Ferry Road. This Saturday?s adoption event is planned to help make room for more strays that are likely to come into the shelter through the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend. However, as a means to promote adoptions, the shelter will expand adoption hours permanently starting September 12. The new hours will include Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Tuesday evenings until 6:30 p.m. The expanded hours are intended to make it easier for working people to visit the shelter and adopt out its growing population of abandoned animals. Photos of animals available for adoption through the county may be viewed at www.mobilecountyanimals.com. ###
