ACCESS TO DISASTER HELP AND RESOURCES

Posted on: May 14th, 2014 | Announcements

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced that Mobile County is one of the counties in Alabama approved for federal aid, including assistance to local citizens impacted by the recent severe storms. The assistance can include money for temporary housing and home repairs, and for other serious disaster-related needs, such as medical and dental expenses or funeral and burial costs, according to FEMA. To cover losses not fully compensated by insurance, low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) may also be available to homeowners, renters and businesses of all sizes. To apply for federal assistance: Online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov any time day or night. By phone at (800) 621-3362 or for hearing impaired call (800) 462-7585. For one-on-one assistance in Mobile County, you may visit with a FEMA representative and the SBA at the Old Navy/Marine Corps Reserve Center, 4851 Museum Drive, Mobile, Alabama. Also available at the site are volunteer local organizations active in disasters. You may register online for your meeting, or register at the local facility.
