$1 Million From County To Underwrite city of Mobile Projects

Posted on: Feb 26th, 2016 | Announcements

The Mobile County Commission will be sending more than $1 million to the city of Mobile?s coffers this month to fund infrastructure projects in the municipality. About $800,000 will fund road projects in the city and another $300,000 will finance new restrooms in Herndon Park, also known as Sage Park, all of which are located in District 1 represented by Commissioner Merceria Ludgood. The road projects were approved for construction this month by the Mobile City Council. Design of the Herndon Park restrooms has been completed in anticipation of county funding. ?The County sees needs within the city limits that we can address and we are glad to help with those,? Commissioner Ludgood said. The city road projects were selected with the input of Council members Levon Manzie and Fred Richardson whose districts coincide with those of Commissioner Ludgood. Upgrades are planned for the Cochrane Service Road; the Industrial Parkway Extension to Shell Chemical; N. Jackson and N. Claiborne Streets; Woodley, Mercedes and Le Ruth Roads; Sandalwood, Sandspur and Northview Drives, and Sandstone and Sandcastle Courts. These improvements come on the heels of another $1 million contribution initiated by Commissioner Ludgood that helped bankroll Mobile?s new walking trail and Splash Pad at Seals Park and major soccer field upgrades at Herndon Park.
