Housing Assistance for Those Impacted by COVID
Mobile County has been awarded $12,376,572 in U.S. Treasury funding for Emergency Rental Assistance (TERA) through the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (CAA) to provide income-qualified, COVID-impacted households with resources for rental and utility assistance. Using TERA funding, the County Grants Department will provide rental and utility assistance by means of an online application portal, centralized call center, and localized application support. Renters, as well as landlords, may apply on behalf of renters.
The County has also been awarded $1,754,165 in Community Development Block Grant – Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). Using CDBG-CV funding, the County Grants Department has or will partner with local nonprofits to provide various aid and relief for income-qualified, COVID-impacted households. Please note that the County will not provide direct assistance to individuals and/or families, rather funding will only be provided through County nonprofit partners.
