GULF COAST CHALLENGE

The Gulf Coast Challenge, described as "the ultimate HBCU experience," takes place Saturday, Oct. 4, starting at noon, at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Pre-game concerts include Deitrick Haddon headlining Thursday night, then the Ying Yang Twins and Lil' Scrappy on Friday night. Saturday's Tailgate Festival pre-game concert features CUPID; incredible food; high-energy line dancing; and unbeatable vibes. It all leads up to the 4 p.m. kickoff as Jackson State University battles Alabama A&M Unversity in one of the most anticipated football matchups of the season. Other events surrounding the game include a college and career fair on Thursday, Oct. 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mobile Convention Center; a Mardi Gras-themed luncheon on Friday, Oct. 3 at 11:30 a.m. at the Mobile Convention Center; and a parade through the streets of downtown Mobile on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 10 a.m., with marching bands, Mardi Gras floats, decorated cars and community groups.
