Mobile County resident participation event: OPERATION GREEN LIGHT FOR VETERANS

Nov 7th, 2022 - Nov 13th, 2022 · 5:00 PM-11:59 PM

The week of the Veterans Day holiday, Mobile County Commission is participating in Operation Green Light and will light the atrium of Government Plaza green to shine a light of appreciation, hope and support for our nation’s veterans from Nov. 7 through Nov. 13 and urges residents in all parts of Mobile County to participate by

  • Picking up your green light bulb at Mobile County License Commission or Mobile Public Library locations (see locations and hours of operation by clicking here).
  • Shining your green light the week of Nov. 7 through Nov. 13, 2022.
Simply change one light bulb in your house to a green bulb. This can be an exterior light that neighbors and passersby see or an interior light that sparks a conversation with friends and family.
  • Taking a photo of your green-lit area and post it on social media with the hashtags #OperationGreenLight and #MobileCountyAL.
  • Sending your photo to publicaffairs@mobilecountyal.gov (some submitted photos will be featured on Mobile County’s social media and its Operation Green Light page).
  • Visiting www.mobilecountyal.gov/operation-green-light-program/ to learn about local resources available to veterans and their families and share this information with veterans in your life.

At the stroke of 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, the atrium will be lit green through Sunday, Nov. 13. Some downtown businesses and other downtown Mobile locations - the Mobile Convention Center and GulfQuest - will be lit green that week as well. The "Mighty A" (USS Alabama) will be lit for some of the week and the Mobile RSA buildings will be lit green on Nov. 8, the balance of the week, they’ll be red, white and blue.

The Mobile County Commission recently approved a resolution supporting Operation Green Light and expressing the importance of showing appreciation and support for veterans:
