ALABAMA COASTAL BIRDFEST: BAYOU LA BATRE, FOREVER WILD GRAND BAY SAVANA & GRAND BAY NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE

The Nature Conservancy calls this area one of the “last great places on Earth,” Bayou La Batre, the Forever Wild Grand Bay Savana, and the Grand Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Learn how fishing, shrimping, and oyster harvesting are big businesses as emulated in the classic movie, Forrest Gump. Birding will concentrate on water birds, shorebirds, and marsh species, with passerines and raptors abundant in the fall. Ride bus from 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center, cost is $60 per person and includes lunch.
