Jan 1st, 2024 - Dec 31st, 2024 ·
Thanks to a grant from the Downtown Mobile Alliance‘s MOBilize Fund and various private donors, the Mobile Art Council has made headway toward its newest public art initiative, Utility Box Art. So far, 25 utility boxes have been painted or wrapped throughout downtown, and more are in the works! Artists are still welcome to apply to participate.
Each power box project award comes with a $750 budget, to cover the cost of materials. Additional compensation may be available on special applications. A selection committee will choose artists on a rolling basis throughout 2024 as funds become available. For information, visit here: mobilearts.org/utility-box-art. To apply, go to CALL FOR ARTISTS - A Celebration of Black Artists (jotform.com).
