The Mobile Jewish Film Festival is pleased to announce an IN-PERSON Summer Film Series lineup of films and events. Brought to you by the Mobile Area Jewish Foundation, this film series will be at various locations in the area. July 14, 2022, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Mobile Museum of Art. Come out and view CHASING PORTRAITS, Documentary, Non-Rated. Moshe Rynecki (1881-1943) was a prolific Warsaw-based artist who painted scenes of the Polish-Jewish community until he was murdered at Majdanek concentration camp. After the Holocaust, Moshe’s wife was only able to recover a small fraction of his work, but unbeknownst to the family, many other pieces survived. For more than a decade his great-granddaughter Elizabeth has searched for the missing art, with remarkable and unexpected success. There is no admission charge for this film, but reservations are required. Mobile Museum of Art is hosting an exhibit commemorating Yom HaShoah 2022 featuring artworks about the Holocaust, including one by Miriam Shapiro. It will be on view in the Friedman gallery, 1st floor, before and after the film. Film attendees will be given FREE museum admission to view the exhibit.
