Maritime historian-in-residence John Sledge explores the Battle of Vigo Bay (1702) on Thursday, Jan. 15, at noon at the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf. During the battle, a Spanish treasure fleet was sunk by British and Dutch forces. Discover the history, Jules Verne’s literary link, lingering treasure and Sledge’s own 1979 visit to the site.
