A special GulfChats conversation marking the America 250th commemoration, exploring the often overlooked history of the Revolutionary era along the Gulf Coast, will take place on Thursday, July 16, at noon at the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf. Maritime historian-in-residence John Sledge will be in conversation with Mike Bunn, author of "The Fourteenth Colony: The Forgotten Story of the Gulf South during America’s Revolutionary Era." Together they will discuss the Gulf South’s pivotal but frequently forgotten role in the broader story of the American Revolution, including the region’s strategic importance, contested loyalties and maritime dimensions during the struggle for independence. Admission is FREE. For more information, go to www.facebook.com/events/1716096489526341.
