In remembrance and celebration of protest efforts on the Avenue, Fred Richardson, Civil Rights activist, author of the book Genesis and Exodus of NOW and longtime city councilman for the City of Mobile, tells the story of the Neighborhood Organized Workers organization. This talk is free to the public.
The Historic Avenue Cultural Center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
The Historic Avenue Cultural Center's exhibition "Remembering the Avenue" curated by Jada Jones runs Oct. 4, 2023 through Dec. 31, 2024. Remembering the Avenue is a civic practice exhibition curated through Alabama Contemporary’s Guest Curator Program that enlists the local community in mapping the history, legacy, and possible futures for historic Davis Avenue.
