USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital's new youth empowerment series, designed to help young people and their families better navigate some of the most pressing challenges facing today’s youth, continues from Monday, Feb. 23, to Monday, March 16, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Strada Patient Care Center. The FREE six-topic series, which began Jan. 26, features board-certified physicians, educators and law enforcement professionals offering guidance on issues ranging from gun safety to mental health and puberty.
Monday, Feb. 23: “Drug Awareness Facing Our Youth,” featuring Terry Sexton of the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, who will discuss trends in substance use and tools for prevention. Public information officer Lori Myles will also share a personal story.
Monday, March 2: “Guy Talk: Puberty and Beyond,” for boys ages 10 and up, led by Reshvinder Dhillon, M.D., a pediatric emergency medicine physician.
Monday, March 9: “Behind the Smile: Understanding Teen Mental Health,” presented by Kristin Rager, M.D., MPH, a specialist in adolescent and young adult health at USA Health.
Monday, March 16: “Girl Talk: Puberty and Beyond,” for girls ages 10 and up, hosted by Tracy Roth, M.D., an adolescent OB/GYN specialist.
