The History Museum of Mobile, in partnership with the Exploreum Science Center, will host an Undercover Excavation Workshop on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m. to noon at the History Museum. This exciting hands-on adventure beneath the waves is perfect for explorers of all ages who will step into the role of underwater archaeologists. Excavating artifacts from a mock shipwreck, guests will discover:
* The fascinating field of underwater archaeology
* The anatomy of historic ships
* Highlights from the Mediterranean region featured in "Sunken Treasures, Ancient Seas: Artifacts from the Deep"
* The careful process of excavation and preservation of a Roman warship, a cargo vessel, and items recovered from the sea floor
No RSVP or advance tickets required — this workshop is FREE with regular admission to the History Museum of Mobile. Guests are encouraged to explore the museum and the Sunken Treasures, Ancient Seas exhibition before or after the workshop to complete their deep-sea journey.
