OIL PAINTING 101 WITH ELSA PAYTON

Mobile Museum of Art will host a 4-week class on oil painting on the first 4 Saturdays of August. During this class, participants will learn the essentials of oil painting, including color theory, paint application, substrate preparation, and brushwork, and will practice various ways to begin a painting. The class will include a brief study of several pieces in the museum’s permanent collection and culminate in an alla prima paint-along in which participants will explore paint handling and composition. Each class will be two hours long, starting at 4 and ending at 6 p.m. The registration fee for this class is $120 for members of the museum and $150 for non-members.
