LaDarrel Bell, the drummer for Mobile's legendary Excelsior Band, will present a live performance and educational program on Tuesday, June 17, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Marx Library Auditorium on the University of South Alabama campus as part of the Jazz Art Writers South (JAWS) Festival.
Bell has prepared a special evening of tunes paying tribute to the value of women’s imprint in the realm of jazz. Musical highlights will include some of her favorites made famous by artists such as Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone. Admission is by donation. The first 50 concert registrants will receive a FREE 2025 swag bag.
