Todd Duren, a local tour guide and owner of Secret History Tours, presents "The Gang That Burned Mobile: The Disastrous 1839 Fire and its Effects on Mobile," on Sunday, April 19, at 2 p.m. at the Cox Deasy Cottage. Duren will delve into one of the city's most dramatic chapters, when a fire nearly wiped it off the map. Learn about the suspected arsonists, the chaos of the flames and how the city rose from the ashes to reshape the Mobile we know today. Admission is FREE for Historic Mobile Preservation Society members and $10 for nonmembers. Space is limited, so reserve a spot at www.historicmobile.org/event-details-registration/lecture-series-the-gang-that-burned-mobile.
