HISTORICAL LECTURE SERIES: THE FOURTEENTH COLONY

Jul 19th, 2026 2:00 PM-3:30 PM

The Historic Mobile Preservation Society's Historic Mobile Lecture Series will feature an engaging historic presentation on the Fourteenth Colony by Historic Blakeley State Park Director Mike Bunn on Sunday, July 19, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Cox-Deasy Cottage. The British colony of West Florida (which once stretched from the mighty Mississippi to the shallow bends of the Apalachicola and portions of what are now the states of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana) is the forgotten fourteenth colony of America’s Revolutionary era. The colony’s eventful years as a part of the British Empire form an important and compelling interlude in Gulf Coast history that has for too long been overlooked. Admission for this event is FREE for HMPS members and $10 for non-members. Seating is limited. For more information, go to www.historicmobile.org/event-details-registration/lecture-series-the-fourteenth-colony.
