Join the Local History & Genealogy division of Mobile Public Library for this special workshop about locating African American death records. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the MPL Local History & Genealogy building, join Angelia Bendolph, President of the Mobile Chapter of the Association for the Study of African American Life & History, for a case study by Jim and Georgeann Ellis on using cemetery ledger books and death records to locate lost gravesites at Oaklawn Memorial Cemetery. After a short presentation on Local History & Genealogy resources, participants will be assisted by LH&G staff members in locating death information including funeral notices, obituaries, and death and burial records.
